Intelligent design collaboration across CAD systems.
Engineering teams work across different CAD environments. Sembyl is building technology to make that collaboration work better.
The problem
CAD systems don't collaborate well with each other
Engineering teams routinely work across different CAD systems — across departments, suppliers, customers, and engineering partners.
Existing exchange methods can move geometry between these systems, but much of the design intelligence behind that geometry can be lost. Features, parameters, relationships, and design intent don't necessarily travel with the design.
That makes true cross-CAD collaboration difficult. Teams can exchange representations of a design, but continuing to work intelligently with that design across different systems remains a challenge.
Our vision
Design intelligence that works across CAD systems
Sembyl is exploring a better foundation for cross-CAD collaboration — one that allows engineering teams using different CAD systems to work with the intelligence and intent behind a design, not just its geometry.
The goal isn't to replace the CAD systems engineers already use. It's to make those systems better able to participate in a shared engineering design process.
Who we're building for
Teams that collaborate across CAD environments
Manufacturers
Product development teams managing designs across internal CAD systems and external partners.
Suppliers
Engineering suppliers who receive designs in formats different from the tools they use.
Engineering partners
Contract engineering firms and co-development teams working alongside customers with different CAD environments.
Distributed product teams
Organizations where different sites, divisions, or teams have standardized on different CAD platforms.
About Sembyl
Building toward a new kind of CAD collaboration
Sembyl is an early-stage engineering technology company focused initially on mechanical CAD and the challenges created when engineering teams need to collaborate across different CAD environments.
We're developing and validating an approach intended to move cross-CAD workflows beyond exchanging files toward collaborating with the design intelligence they contain.
